About Cape Cod Soaring: We are a commercial glider operation with over 30 years of sailplane experience. We fly every day, weather permitting, and with fewer snow days on Cape Cod, we are able to fly all winter long too. GIFT CERTIFICATES! Our gift Certificates have evolved into a very popular gift idea here on Cape Cod. Gliding is by far the highest quality flying available whether the passenger has an interest in aviation, wants some adventure or just wants to soak in the splendid panorama of Cape Cod through our visually unobstructed cockpit. A perfect gift for all ages. We are easier to schedule with because we are a commercial operation. Actually calling the night before you want to fly is preferred, because we are able to check the weather reports for a more enjoyable flight. We also offer instruction for those who which to get a glider rating -- which is the equivalent of a pilots license, being FAA regulated but not as involved as or expensive as a power plane rating. When you learn to fly a glider you are learning a new sport. This sport is called soaring and it is one of the most interesting and exciting sports in the world today, and here in the USA, we have some of the best soaring conditions in the world! soaring and gliders in New England and Massachusetts
From Route 6, south on Rte 149 (Exit 5) to Race Lane. From Route 28, north on Rte 149 to Race Lane. Cape Cod Airport is one of the older airports in the country. Its nostalgic atmosphere comes from the almost 100 acres of open fields, with three intersecting runways, two hangars and a beautiful old windmill. It all started in the 1920’s as an Army Air Corps Training field. It has changed very little since. There is a year round restaurant across the street with a large sundeck overlooking the airfield for those looking for a relaxing lunch. Cape Cod must be the most interesting and beautiful sight to fly over east of the Rocky Mountains. The coastline, the lakes, the homes and the horizon to the wild soaring birds such as bald eagles, red tailed hawks, osprey and of course the Cape Cod infamous buzzards and seagulls. They will fly with you and share the thermals with you as you climb to higher vantage points. Our rides: Our rides are given in a Super Blanik or a Schweizer 2-33A. The only difference in your ride will be flight time, and are available in three different lengths. |
